Campus notes

Penn State's Li Huang will speak at 9:30 a.m. today in 301-D Life Sciences Building. Wendy Hanna-Rose of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology will host the event, titled "Molecular Cloning of a C. elegans Longevity Gene PNC-1 and Investigation of Its Novel Functions in Development."

The Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos will host a seminar at 11 a.m. today in 320 Whitmore Laboratory. Alexander Vikman of Columbia University will speak about "K-Essence, Superluminal Propagation, Causality and Emergent Geometry."

Penn State's Michael Williams will speak at 11:10 a.m. today in 107 Agricultural Sciences and Industries Building. Nancy Ostiguy of the Department of Entomology will host the event, titled "Intra-Colony and Inter-Colony Temporal and Spatial Variations of Varroa Mite (V. destructor) Populations and a New Method for Measuring Honey-Bee Drifting in Apiaries with Different Colony-Spacing Parameters."

Penn State's Nicholas Hebrock will speak at 12:20 p.m. today in 101 Agricultural Sciences and Industries Building. The Department of Crop and Soil Sciences will host the speech, titled "Does Seeding Rate Impact Glyphosate-Resistant-Alfalfa Productivity?"

Harvard University's Scott Phillips will speak at 4 p.m. Monday in 102 Chemistry Building. Steven Weinreb of the Department of Chemistry will host the speech, titled "Molecules, Magnets, and Paper: Interfacing Organic and Analytical Chemistry."
