Finally, there will be no more talking about the Connecticut game and the team can get back to doing what it does best.
The No. 14 Penn State women’s basketball team will play its only exhibition game this season against the Basketball Travelers.
It will be the Lady Lions’ only tune-up before next weekend’s Women’s National Invitational Tournament.
Following a turbulent offseason, which saw forward Courtney Upshaw leave the team, star guard Kelly Mazzante come down with mononucleosis, and an increased training regimen, the Lions are ready to get back on the court and just play basketball.
“The preseason was rough,” sophomore guard Tanisha Wright said at media day. “I think that everyone worked hard to accomplish the goals that we needed to accomplish, to be at the point we’re at right now.”
That point includes being nationally recognized, as they are ranked in every major pre-season poll.
While the Final Four is a long way away, every team has to start somewhere, and for the Lions, their start is Sunday.
